Bio - Oliver Van Praet

Oliver Van Praet is a first year Family Practice resident in Victoria, BC. He did his medical training at McGill University where he was an internal editor for the McGill Journal of Medicine, a student-run peer-reviewed medical journal. He had previously completed his master's research in cell biology also at McGill. He is currently interested in emergency and remote medicine.
Oliver Van Praet was born in Belgium, raised in Edmonton and Yellowknife and obtained his undergraduate (genetics), master's (anatomy) and medical degrees from McGill Univeristy. He also took a few years off in between to try his luck as a professional actor in New York. He is currently in his first year of residency in Victoria.
He joined the EAB because of his previous (positive) experience with the world of publishing. He had the opportunity to be on the author/researcher site of the equation during his master's degree and published a paper encompassing all of his master's research. In medical school he jumped to the editorial side of things and was an internal editor for the McGill Journal of Medicine - one of the only entirely student run peer-reviewed medical journals in the world. He very much enjoyed critically reading other's work, and offering constructive advice on how to organize their thoughts and words.
